The November 2021 dedication ceremony of the Corey Reich Tennis Center marked the conclusion of an emotional project to renovate the City tennis courts on Vista Ave.  The reimagined tennis center is named after beloved Piedmont High School alumnus and tennis coach Corey Reich.

A 2004 graduate of Piedmont High and member of the men’s tennis team, Corey was diagnosed with ALS in 2007 while attending Middlebury College. After graduation, he returned to Piedmont and has served as assistant coach of the men’s and women’s tennis teams ever since. Corey is a powerful and inspirational coaching presence every day of these teams’ seasons, and has been instrumental in the continued success of the PHS tennis program, the most successful in school history.  Click here to read Corey’s speech as read by Wendy Reich.

The completion of the tennis center closes out the second successful project that has come from the public/private partnership between the City of Piedmont and the Piedmont Recreational Facilities Organization (“PRFO”).  In addition to the $450,000 raised for the tennis center, PRFO supported the City’s 2018 renovation of Hampton Park by raising $850,000 from the Piedmont Community.  Between these two projects there have been over 550 individual donations from community members.

On the heels of these successes, PRFO is looking forward to the continuation of its partnership with the City by supporting their effort to raise supplemental funds for the renovation and upgrade of the Piedmont Community Pool.  Additional information on this project will be coming over the next several months.

Founded in 2004, Piedmont Recreational Facilities Organization (“PRFO”) is a 501(c)3 entity that encourages and actively supports the development and/or improvement of public recreational facilities that serve residents of Piedmont without regard to age, race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or ability.
